Oversized Box Questions, Answered
What size box do I need for shipping artwork or framed pieces?
Framed artwork usually ships in a box 2 to 3 inches larger than the frame on each dimension, leaving room for corner protectors and bubble wrap. Our 21 to 36 inch range covers most framed pieces and mirrors. For unusual proportions, a custom size is often cheaper than an oversized standard box.
Do oversized boxes cost more to ship?
Usually, because couriers bill on dimensional weight above certain sizes, and boxes over 21 inches almost always trigger it. The billed weight is length times width times height divided by a carrier divisor, regardless of actual weight. Sizing as close to the contents as possible matters more in this range than any other.
What is a wardrobe box and what size is it?
A wardrobe carton is a tall corrugated box, typically 20 to 24 inches square and 34 to 48 inches high, used to move hanging clothes. Our oversized range covers tall formats up to 36 inches. For full-height wardrobe cartons with hanging bars, request a quote and we will price the run.
Can you make a box longer than 36 inches?
Yes. The sizes priced on this page top out at 36 inches, but we manufacture to any inside dimension as a custom run from 1,000 boxes. Long formats for artwork, mouldings, and furniture parts are a common request. Send the dimensions through the quote form and pricing usually comes back within one business day.
